About Feel the Beat
Feel the Beat is a dance studio for ALL. We are specifically focused on building a community for children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing where they can learn and experience the art of dance in their native language along with providing an opportunity to connect with their peers. We have developed a curriculum that incorporates a combination of touch, musical vibrations, Sign Language and specially constructed tools to aid in the experience of music and dance. Tools we use concurrently with our instruction include drumsticks and of course our revolutionary vibrational dance floor that uses bone conduction in order to assist those are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in feeling musical vibrations.
Dance and music education is equally accessible to children who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing and with special needs. We welcome ALL to join us for dance class, to volunteer, or to simply just share our message with those you know. Every day we work to create a community and positive dance experience for our students and we are excited to reach more and more people.
Feel the beat is dedicated to bringing the expressive world of dance and music education to individuals who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing and with special needs.
“I loved making beats and rhythms with the drumsticks and learning the cool dance moves!” -Tysin, 2nd grade
Why We Provide Value to the Community
The current state of dance education is geared toward the mass population of children, those who are able bodied and unencumbered by a learning difference or an impairment. We are missing an opportunity to support the musical and dance education to our children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing who need a more customized curriculum that incorporates their form of communication. These children are missing opportunities to experience the joy of music, dance and expression
