About Feel the Beat

Our Mission

Feel the Beat is a Colorado-based nonprofit and dance studio dedicated to making the experience of music possible for all including those who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and/or with or without disabilities. With our bone-conduction dance floor, students are able to feel sound through vibrational energy that embodies the experience of music in an inclusive platform.

Our Story

In 2016, Feel the Beat founders Jari and Julia met while teaching in a multiple needs classroom. Their students' motivation grew when accessible music and dance activities were incorporated into lessons. Seeking more opportunities for their students, they discovered there was a lack of accessible programs and an evident need for more ~ so they decided to create their own!

Dedicated to bridging this gap, Jari and Julia worked with engineers to pioneer vibrating dance floors so students could experience sound through feeling. Today, we have a way to transform music from a listening experience to a physically immersive one, turning the inaccessible into the inclusive without limitations. This technology has impacted over 2,000 students across the state of Colorado and beyond, representing only a small fraction of the vast community.
